Bob Ormsby
Biography...
Bob is a lifelong Tahoe resident, moving to the area with his family
when he was just a
few days old. It didn't take him long to develop a passion for
competitive skiing. While attending school in the Tahoe area, he pursued
a racing career that spanned nearly 25 years. Skiing gave him the
opportunity to travel & compete internationally in Europe, Asia, North &
South America and the South Pacific.
He was a member of the
United States National Ski Team for eight years, a member of the 1988
United States Olympic team that competed in Calgary, and a two-time
National Slalom Champion. At one time, he reached 18th in the world
slalom rankings.
Through it all, Bob pursued a college degree, taking classes whenever
his demanding training and competition schedules permitted. He started
locally at Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village, Nevada, then
accepted an athletic scholarship at the University of Wyoming. After one
semester as a Collegiate All-American, he became a full-time member of
the US National Ski Team (1984). Over the next ten years, he continued
his education during the off-seasons in San Diego, earning units at San
Diego State, UCSD, and other local colleges. He returned to Lake Tahoe
to complete the process, graduating from Sierra Nevada College in 1994
with a degree in business.
He
immediately earned his brokers license, and after six successful years
in real estate decided it
was time to open his own office, ORMSBY REAL ESTATE. "I took what I learned during 25 years of ski racing and
added it to my formal education," he says. "Real estate is competitive,
and ski racing taught me how to use competition to improve myself. I
enjoy meeting new people and the feeling that comes with helping them
purchase a new home." |
